Composite blends recycled plastics with wood fibers under a protective polymer cap; Advanced PVC contains no wood at all. PVC is the premium tier — longer warranties (up to 50 years vs 25–30), about 30% cooler underfoot, and stronger fire ratings. Composite delivers most of the low-maintenance benefit at a lower price point.

It depends on your priorities. Composite and PVC need dramatically less maintenance and resist rot, insects, and moisture far better than wood — but wood costs less upfront. Over the deck's life, the math usually favors composite once you count stain, sealer, and your weekends.

Occasional cleaning with soap and water, clearing debris from between boards, and a yearly look at fasteners and framing. No sealing, staining, or sanding — ever.

Sometimes. The framing has to be structurally sound and meet the 16" on-center joist spacing these boards require. We inspect the frame first — if it qualifies, reboarding saves money; if it doesn't, we'll show you exactly why.

Well — that's the point. The boards don't absorb moisture, so freeze-thaw doesn't damage them, and proper board spacing lets meltwater drain through. Shovel with a plastic shovel along the boards and the surface is fine.

Decking cost varies heavily — more than almost any other project we do — because it depends so much on the material you choose and the actual design of the deck: size, height, levels, railings, and detailing all move the number significantly. A simple deck and a large custom one aren't in the same range.
